Shadow Estates HOA Member Update

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are doing well.

Here are some recent community updates for your review.

1.Soldiers Pass Motorized Use Project Update - Draft Decision Published
The Forest Service has made a decision on motorized trail use of Soldiers Pass Trail. An objection period still stands, however, the decision appears favorable for us. Please see the attached for more detail.
A special thanks to Bill Stankey for his volunteer efforts with this project.

2.Denice and David Roesler (30 Canyon Shadows Dr.) have graciously offered to host the 2016 holiday get-together.  The event will be held Saturday December 10, from 4:00-7:00pm. More details to follow. Please save the date.

3.A Shadow Estates HOA website is now live at www.sehasedona.org and will be a central resource for our members. Be sure to bookmark the site in your PC favorites and use to access the following:
  • Calendar of SEHA events (Board meetings, community get-togethers, etc.).
  • List of volunteers – put a face to the name of your community volunteers.
  • File downloads - including ARC project request forms, CC&Rs, and more.
  • News – review communications from the Board, etc.
  • Email forum – uses the previously shared google email group. Members of the group who are signed in to their account can view all email threads via this page on the website. Let me know if you need any assistance signing up for this newsgroup.

Please take a few minutes to review the website and email me any suggestions for additional content / functionality that you believe would be useful to include in the website. Finally, many thanks to Irwin Sheer for stepping up as our volunteer webmaster.

4.Open volunteer positions – the Board is still seeking a chairperson to lead our Community Events committee. Time investment is relatively minimal and could certainly be shared with other  committee members. The chairperson would oversee logistics for the summer picnic in the park, the holiday party, and any additional events to be added. Please contact me if you are interested in helping out with this role. Thank you!

Thanks everyone and wishing you a wonderful Fall season.

Regards,

Hello Everyone,

I hope you’ve enjoyed the summer and this email finds you well.

Your HOA Board met this past week and there are a few updates we would like to share with you.

Holiday Party
  • Our holiday party date and time has been set…………please save the date for Saturday December 10th, 4:00pm – 7:00pm
  • We are seeking a member to host this year’s party. Typical attendance has averaged 40 to 50 members in recent years. All food and beverage is supplied by members and the HOA, so the only obligation for the event host is to provide a location. Please contact me if you are interested in hosting the event at your home. Thank you!

Community Events Committee Chairperson
  • The Board is seeking a chairperson to lead our Community Events committee. Time investment is relatively minimal and could certainly be shared with other  committee members. The chairperson would oversee logistics for the summer picnic in the park, the holiday party, and any additional events to be added. Please contact me if you are interested in helping out with this role. Thank you!

Trailhead Usage
  • Speaking briefly with our Forest Service representative, it appears a decision on future vehicle use on the Soldiers Pass trail, is imminent. We are optimistic the decision will result in a positive outcome to our community, in terms of traffic volume and vehicle types using the trail. More to follow soon.

Trailhead Overflow Street Parking
  • Speaking with Justin Clifton, City Manager with the City of Sedona, it appears there are plans under development for changes to the no parking signs in our community. Hopefully these changes will result in a positive impact to our community, in terms of reducing street parking volume during prime visitor periods. Separately, Justin agreed to reach out to local Activity Centers to provide education related to directing out of town visitors with ATV trailers to Soldiers Pass trail. Guidance will be to not send ATV trailers to Soldiers Pass trailhead.

Road Surface Seal Coating
  • Speaking with Andy Dickey, Director of Public Works / City Engineer at the City of Sedona, our streets are on the schedule for seal coating either later this year or early 2017.

Park Ysabel
  • One of the large trees was recently treated for needle blight but did not recover. The tree will be scheduled for removal and stump grinding in the coming weeks.
  • Many thanks to Lucie Burris for volunteering to take over coordination of park landscaping and maintenance.

Have a great Labor Day weekend!

Regards,
